Ten Steps to Start an Awana Club in Your Church
q
Step 1. The Awana Missionary meets with Pastor to
introduce the Awana ministry, and the requirements necessary to start a
program. This starts with a Doctrinal Position Agreement. To help you do your
homework take a look at Awana .Org to see if Awana is right for you and you’re
church.
q
Step 2. Church makes a decision to use Awana
Note: Your Awana Missionary is available to give a presentation to your staff, interested workers or church body. This presentation includes 11 minutes of video explaining the Awana program and explanation on how Awana benefits your church ministry I have a 4-5 min CD “One Child at a Time” presentation or I can also do a power point presentation to answer questions as well as a challenge on youth ministry. Many times this helps the church make a decision. Should you wish to do this, call your Awana Missionary to schedule an appointment. Our presentation is on _________.
q
Step 3. Church requests a Awana Ministry Agreement
Packet from the Awana Missionary (takes 3-5 days)
q
Step 4. Church sends Ministry Agreement and initial
Training Kit order to Awana Headquarters (takes 1-2 Weeks)
Note: The Registration Fee is $95.00, and the Initial Training Kit order will contain materials necessary to train your leadership.
q
Step 5. Hold a meeting with interested leaders, and
determine who will be the Commander, Directors, and Leaders of the various
clubs.
Note: Make these
determinations while you are waiting for the Initial Training Kits to be
delivered. Basic Training works best when leaders can focus on a particular
job or age group.
q
Step 6. Schedule a Basic
Training meeting with your Awana Missionary (takes 1-2 Weeks)
This training session
will last 4 hours and may be done on a Saturday, or split across two days. Your
leaders will receive hands-on training on the essentials of successful Awana
clubs.
Note: Our Basic Training Date is set for: _______________________.
q
Step 7. Plan leaders meeting after Basic Training to
discuss the Church Planning Guide provided by your Awana Missionary. It is
important that leaders know the "Who, Where and How's" of your
particular Awana program. This document will help you to tailor the Awana
program to your church.
q
Step 8. Run an actual Club program without any
children using the Dry Run Guide provided by your Awana Missionary.
q
Step 9. (optional) Go to another Awana Club at a nearby church
to observe their program.
Note: Your Awana Missionary is available to advise you of clubs to visit.
q
Step 10. Now it is time to hold you’re first club
Meeting!
